The Outdoor Channel, America’s Leader In Outdoor TV, was honored for excellence in sales and digital by CableFAX, a cable industry trade publication. At events held by the media outlet in May, Outdoor Channel received accolades for “Sales Executive of the Year” and “Best Website.”
On May 1 st, Mark Romano, Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing for Outdoor Channel’s Eastern Division, was recognized as one of CableFAX’s “Sales Executives of the Year” at a breakfast held at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. A member of the Outdoor Channel sales team since 2007, Romano has been an integral part of Outdoor Channels’ launches and migrations on cable systems over the last year including launches on Comcast XFINITY TV systems in Maryland and Virginia, and migrations on XFINITY TV systems in Greater New England, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Outdoor Channel’s affiliate sales team was also nominated for the “Affiliate Sales Team of the Year” award for emerging and mid-size networks. The 16-person affiliate sales and marketing team, led by Randy Brown, Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing, made great strides in 2011, both nationally and internationally. The network saw a surge in both standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) carriage in key markets, and reached new global heights. Outdoor Channel’s viewership continues to grow, up 24 percent in the past five years. And the network has hit its highest historical subscriber base to date, now available to approximately 38 million households.
Outdoor Channel was also honored during CableFAX’s Best of the Web Awards, with OutdoorChannel.com taking home the prize for “Best Overall Website” for a small-midsize cable network. The awards were handed out today, May 21 st at an event held at the Seaport Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. OutdoorChannel.com, which relaunched earlier this year, now features additional resources for media, in addition to enhanced web content, highlighting Outdoor Channel’s extensive programming library.
